Presentation

Material properties are essentially probed by spectroscopic techniques. Theoretically, electronic excitations are out of the reach of Density Functional Theory (DFT) since it is a ground state theory. An introductory section will be on the basics of DFT to obtain ground state properties of materials. Methods that go beyond DFT such as Time-Dependent Density Functional Theory (TDDFT) and GW Approximation (GWA) will be introduced to calculate the excited state properties with plenty of hands-on experience.

The program is aimed at beginning and advanced graduate students wishing to pursue a carrier in/using Electronic Structure Methods. Our institute is fully equipped with a central node available for computations and individual stations which provide connection to the central node. More details will be available as the programme is developed further.

Participation

The workshop will finance the local expenses of national participants completely. International applicants at the Ph.D. level as well as young researchers are eligible for UNESCO support covering their local expenses.
