Program (tentative)
Material properties are essentially probed by spectroscopic techniques.
Theoretically, electronic excitations are out of the reach of Density Functional Theory (DFT)
since it is a ground state theory. An introductory section will be on the basics of DFT to
obtain ground state properties of materials. Methods that go beyond DFT such as Time-Dependent
Density Functional Theory (TDDFT) and GW Approximation (GWA) will be introduced to calculate
the excited state properties with plenty of hands-on experience.
The program is aimed at beginning and advanced graduate students wishing to pursue a
carrier in/using Electronic Structure Methods. Our institute is fully equipped with a
central node available for computations and individual stations which provide connection
to the central node. More details will be available as the programme is developed further.
